I have been waiting over a month to get a routine appointment. I had an appointment for this coming Wednesday, however due to work commitments I needed to amend this appointment. I was told on the phone that they were not able to book any appointments as they had none released. They were hoping to have more released on Monday.....I actually can't believe that it is actually impossible to book an appointment with this surgery, even for a months time! I have been a patient for 43 years and have never experienced such terrible service. We pay our taxes to be able to book to see a Dr, and to be told that they are not releasing appointments is not acceptable. I actually feel sorry for the receptionists, they must be getting so much abuse for this poor management of the surgery. It was bad enough that they merged with a surgery in Thames Ditton when there is no public transport to get you there, but that was to ensure that you could see a Dr, but it seems to have got worse since then. Appalling service Glenlyn, your management team are not good enough.

This surgery is a laughing stock, too many patients, too few doctors and nurses, no chance of an appointment. No urgent care, have to go to Giggs Hill! How are patients from Molesey supposed to get there if they do not have there own transport, there is no public transport available? My wife had a gall bladder operation yesterday and this morning had a bleed from one of the wounds, so I rang Glenlyn for a home visit, no chance, can you get to the surgery for 4pm appointment. What good option for someone who has just had surgery, is in some pain and whenever they move the wound oozes. We managed to get to the surgery where the doctor examined my wife and suggested making a follow up appointment on Friday or Saturday with the nurse just to make sure the wounds are heeling. No chance of an appointment fully booked, you can always pop into the walk-in centres at Teddington or Weybridge, thank you so much my wife has just had SURGERY and should not be moving about unnecessarly. Solutions get more doctors and nurses and don't take on anymore patients so that there might be some hope of getting an appointment when required, and not in 3 weeks time, could be dead by then. Response from Glenlyn Medical Centre

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We apologise if our service did not meet your expectations, and appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns. We continually strive to provide a consistently reliable service and an excellent level of patient care. We are unable to discuss individual cases online for reasons of confidentiality. In line with most surgeries, home visit requests are triaged by the duty doctor, who may call the patient for more information, before deciding if a home visit is necessary. We do expect patients to come to the surgery if they are able to, as the clinician can see several patients in the time it takes to make one home visit. Nationally, we are seeing an increase in demand for GP appointments and we are also experiencing this locally, which means we are busier than ever. We have a full-time Practice Nurse and three Doctors who have recently joined the Practice. We continue to undertake recruitment to extend the team further. We are also expanding our administration team and providing them with additional training to help improve how we work as a Practice. If you would like to contact the surgery direct, this will allow us to investigate further. Your observations will be used as part of our staff training, in order to develop the standard of care and level of service we provide.

I just cant get an appointment. Had to go to walk in centre twice now because I could not get an appointment at Glenlyn! It seems impossible to get one!. I dont understand why they dont allow patients to book appointments over time eg in a week or months time, other surgeries seem to manage it. Also whats the point in giving patients online facilities if you cant use it to book appointments? Please tell me! Very badly managed practice!

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We apologise if our service did not meet your expectations, and appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns. We continually strive to provide a consistently reliable service and an excellent level of patient care. We do have a dedicated Urgent Care Clinic that caters for sudden problems such as sore throats, rashes and fevers. This clinic is now based at the Giggs Hill branch site, where there is large onsite car park and a spacious waiting room. The clinic appointments are booked on the day. Our Urgent Care Clinic does have limited capacity, and when it is full you would need to attend a walk-in centre or A&E if it is for an urgent reason. Alternatively, you can try the next day for an appointment. Due to the merger of Glenlyn with Giggs Hill, there is a growing range of services available to all patients. By ringing either Glenlyn (0208 979 3253) or Giggs Hill (0208 398 8619), GP and nurse appointments can be booked at either location that you choose. You can call and ask for a ‘prebookable appointment’ at any time. There is a rolling programme of releasing ‘prebookable appointments’, so that there are appointments available daily. The majority of appointments are released at 8 am and do go very quickly despite the high number of appointments we have to offer. We also have the facility to book a number of appointments online. To take advantage of this, please visit the Practice for this to be arranged for you. Nationally, we are seeing an increase in demand for GP appointments and we are also experiencing this locally, which means we are busier than ever. We have a full-time Practice Nurse and three Doctors who have recently joined our team. We continue to undertake recruitment to extend the team further. I have been coming to this surgery for many years, it's not perfect, nothing is, but I have no complaints all my problems have had resolutions and long may it continue to be so.

I have been registered at Glenlyn for over 20 years and I have never known it to be as bad as it is now for getting an appointment. I have been trying for 2 weeks and still no luck. I have private medical insurance and I can't even use that as I need a referral from a GP! It's a shameful situation and I am now looking to register with a different surgery elsewhere.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are disappointed to hear of your experience, and appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns. We also have the facility to book certain routine appointments online. In order for patients to take advantage of this facility, they would need to visit the Practice for this to be arranged for them. It is not always necessary to see GP for a referral, depending on circumstances. We also offer telephone consultations. Even leaving a message for the Doctor may be all that is required. We do appreciate not all patients feel comfortable discussing their concerns with administrative staff. Nationally, we are seeing an increase in demand for GP appointments and we are also experiencing this locally, which means we are busier than ever. We have a full-time Practice Nurse and two Doctors who have recently joined the Practice, and one Doctor who is joining our team in June.
